Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC Ontario and WICC Quebec) was the official charity of the National Insurance Conference of Canada (NICC) held at the Hilton Lac-Learny Hotel in Gatineau, Quebec, on Oct. 1 - Oct. 3.

As part of this partnership WICC Quebec Chapter held a fundraising silent auction at the NICC, raising $6,000, as well NICC made a donation to WICC Ontario for every speaker and moderator at the conference, totaling a $5,000 donation. WICC's honorary chairman, Claude Dussault, delivered an address to conference delegates about WICC's important activities in the area of cancer research.

"As the NICC attracts leaders of Canada's insurance industry, it is fitting that we chose to support WICC, one of the industry's premier causes," NICC president and CEO Joel Baker said. "We are excited that the NICC could do its part to help WICC in the battle against cancer."

Marilyn Horrick, board member of WICC Ontario addressed NICC delegates at the gala dinner, thanking them for their support and sharing, Our dream is that one day the P & C industry will be known across Canada for its contribution to cancer research. With chapters in BC, Alberta, Ontario and now Quebec, plus fundraising activities in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, WICC is truly a national initiative. Horrick continued, The many volunteers and chapter board members know all too well why WICC has been embraced so devotedly by our industry. We hear your stories; we know how cancer has touched your lives; we know the people you think of as Im standing here now.

In her closing remarks, Horrick urged the audience of industry leaders to embrace WICC and build on the momentum already created, We need your help to reach our dream by becoming a National Sponsor, incorporating WICC into your payroll donation program, participating in our Change for Change program (describe), making WICC your charity of choice for your fundraising activities, donating to our Tribute Honour Recognition Program to honour someone you know in their battle against cancer and by organizing a relay team to donate to WICC in our newest initiative the Insurance Challenge in the Canadian Cancer Societys Relay for Life.
