Crawford & Company (Canada) Inc. presented a $50,000 cheque on behalf of its employees to the Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC) during a celebration breakfast the Company hosted today at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. This latest donation brings Crawford's five-year total to $250,000 for the organization.
"Five years ago, when we first launched our charitable initiative, Crawford Cares, and began our journey with WICC, we never dreamed that we would reach a quarter of a million dollars so quickly," said John Sharoun, chief executive officer of Crawford & Company (Canada) Inc., who presented the cheque to the WICC board of directors during the breakfast. "We had hoped to raise five or ten thousand dollars a year. Instead, our employees jumped in wholeheartedly and we have consistently come together to raise both community awareness and $50,000 annually through various fundraisers, payroll deductions and donations. I couldn't be more proud of our staff and all of the efforts they consistently make for their communities and this wonderful cause."
Crawford held this mornings breakfast to honor the efforts of the organizations board and volunteers. "The Crawford family has suffered its share of loss from cancer recently," Steve Anderson, senior vice president, Corporate Markets and Administration, said. "However, we have also seen a good number of people triumph over the disease. This is such a hopeful sign that because of the efforts from WICC and the insurance industry as a whole, we are that much closer to finding a cure."
