Lombard's 'charity points program' brings WICC to work

Always looking to keep their rewards programs fresh and innovative, Lombard solicited input from their brokers and customers about what might be most meaningful to them.  The response was overwhelming.  They wanted their contributions to benefit their charities of choice.  What started as a way to reward customers, brokers and CSRs within their producers’ offices, quickly took on a new and magnanimous life.

Lombard Canada’s Linda McConnell, National Manager Business Choice, spoke with us about how the program works. “The rewards program is based on an accumulation of points that traditionally can be redeemed for gift certificates or items in a catalogue”, says Linda.  “Recognizing that many charities face difficult fundraising issues these days, our participants asked if their points could be turned into cash and donated to certain charities”, commented Linda. “There were three charities chosen to be on the list and WICC was easily one of them.”

When asked if it was hard to narrow down the list of potential charities to choose from Linda responded “WICC is top of mind at Lombard.  Breast cancer and cancer in general touches far too many people…WICC is the most recognizable and widely selected charity on our list.”

Since the program’s kick-off at Lombard’s 2009 National meeting held in the spring, over $500 has been donated to WICC from the program with the potential for a corporate match in the works.  Linda commented further saying “WICC is doing a wonderful job…everyone is familiar with their mission…Lombard is proud of being a supporter a WICC.”
