Crawford presents a cheque in the amount of $80,661.95 to WICC on behalf of Crawford's charitable initiative, Crawford Cares.

Crawford & Company (Canada) Inc. hosted a luncheon in honour of WICC (Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade) on February 9, 2010. John Sharoun, Crawford’s chief execu­tive officer, presented a cheque in the amount of $80,661.95 to the WICC board of directors on behalf of Crawford’s charitable initiative, Crawford Cares.

In past years, Crawford’s em­ployees have raised between $50,000 and $55,000 annually for WICC. This year’s donation increased by over 50 per cent, to an astounding $80,661.95. Since the inception of Crawford Cares in January 2004, Crawford has raised more than $330,000 for WICC.

“Crawford employees threw their hats into the ring and raised the bar this year,” said Sharoun during the cheque presentation. “The addition of the Relay for Life event also really boosted our employees’ enthu­siasm and fundraising efforts. We had a wonderful time staying up all night, honouring friends and loved ones, and for that event alone, employees and Crawford branches across Canada raised more than $25,000.”

Steve Anderson, senior vice presi­dent, Corporate Markets and Admin­istration, added: “This year more than any other year, our employees com­pletely embraced WICC and Crawford Cares. They jumped in whole-heartedly and participated in various fundraisers, payroll deductions, the Relay for Life and other activities. I really don’t think we can express how proud we are of our staff and all of the efforts they consis­tently make for this wonderful cause.”
